Traditional Timber Honours Boards and Incumbents Boards

Traditional honours boards and incumbents boards are available in a selection of standard designs to suit a wide range of environments. Each board is crafted from high‑quality veneered hardwood and offered in a choice of attractive finishes.

Our honours and incumbents boards are supplied to a broad mix of organisations such as schools, colleges and universities, sports clubs of all kinds, trade associations, military establishments and corporate clients. Beautifully made incumbents boards are also provided for churches.

Contemporary Acrylic Honours Boards

For projects with a more contemporary feel, we can also supply honours boards manufactured in clear or green-tinted, glass-effect acrylic. Clear acylic boards are also available with a frosted effect, ideal for applications where the wall on which the board is to be mounted is less than perfect. All acrlic boards are supplied with chrome finished “stand-offs” for wall-mounting and offer a modern and cost-effective alternative to traditional wooden boards.

One of the greatest challenges for those charged with the job of maintaining honours boards is that of updating the information regularly and consistently. At Greenbarnes we understand the difficulties that this, seemingly simple task, can sometimes present, which is why we’re here to help, not just when you first buy a board, but every year thereafter when it needs updating.

Simple Hardwood Honours Boards

Our simplest, honours boards, are manufactured as veneered mdf board with solid timber lippings to all edges. They are offered in three sizes are available, A3, A2 and A1 and each is available in landscape and portrait format.

Larger and Decorative Hardwood Honours Boards

Larger honours boards are framed in solid timber (either 28mm or 34mm square moulded frames depending on the size of the board) to ensure maximum dimensional stability. For more prestigious projects, or where the architectural setting of the board demands something more ornate, we offer designs which incorporate moulded cornices or framed boards with both moulded hardwood cornices and corbels.

Acrylic honours boards offer alternatives to the traditional timber boards which are both more contemporary and extremely cost-effective. They can be manufactured in clear or green-tinted glass-effect acrylic and all are supplied with chrome-effect standoffs for mounting to the wall. We offer acrylic boards in a wide variety of shapes and sizes as part of our standard range and special sizes are easily accomplished, so no matter what the project is, you can rest assured of finding something suitable.

Keeping Your Honours Board Up to Date

The vast majority of boards now use computer-cut vinyl text which means that updates can be posted out to you (usually within a few days) for you to apply on site. This means that there is no need to return boards to us, with all the inherent risks and costs, and also that you are never without the board. Our meticulous record keeping means that you can rely upon receiving updates which are consistent with previous inscriptions in terms of font, size, spacing and colour, thus removing the biggest problem of ongoing maintenance at a stroke.
