Description

If you’re looking for a simple, unglazed but robust noticeboard, as the name suggests, these boards offer the height of toughness and resilience, combined with minimal maintenance requirements. The specification of Apogee boards includes frames of heavy-duty recycled plastic, with powder-coated aluminium back panels and a choice of displays including self-healing rubber pinboard, signwritten panels, and printed or encapsulated graphics.

Standard specification includes:

  • Heavy-duty Man-made Timber (recycled plastic) frames
  • Black finish
  • 3mm, powder-coated aluminium back panels
  • Light grey self-healing rubber pinboard
  • Maintenance-free – will not shrink, rot warp or crack

Each Heavy Duty Noticeboard is hand-built by our skilled craftsmen to exacting standards and with the lack of ongoing maintenance costs, these boards offer an increasingly appealing prospect to those with an eye to the “whole-life” cost of ownership. Modular construction also ensures that, no matter how unlikely, in the event of damage such as impact by vehicles, it is possible to replace individual components rather than the whole board.

Options include:

  • Header panels in choice of colours
  • Vinyl lettering and logos
  • Signwritten, digitally printed or g.r.p.-encapsulated graphic panels
  • Brass dedication plate
  • Wall, post or railing-mounted
External Noticeboards montage including examples of oak, maintanence-free Man-made Timber (recycled plastic) and aluminium boards

Delivery

Our preferred method of delivery will vary depending upon a number of factors including the weights of individual items in the consignment and the delivery address.

The majority of orders are now delivered by couriers using a specialist 2-man delivery team, as experience has shown this to be the safest and most reliable method. Although slightly more expensive than conventional alternatives, this guarantees that our boards, which can be heavy and difficult to handle, are treated with the necessary care at each step of their journey thus minimising the chances of loss or damage.

As soon as your order is completed, we will contact you to let you know that it is being collected by our courier and, shortly thereafter, they will contact you directly to make final arrangements for the delivery. This also has the advantage that you can normally fine-tune delivery details and thus avoid waiting in for prolonged periods.

All consignments will need to be checked and signed for upon receipt. In the unlikely event any item being damaged or missing, this should be recorded on the delivery note when signing for the goods and reported to us, preferably immediately and at the very latest, within 24 hours of delivery. We regret that we are unable to entertain any claims for damage or shortages that are notified to us outside this timescale.

Different arrangements may apply for small parcels, local deliveries or deliveries to remote areas and offshore islands, as follows:

  • Where possible, small parcels (spare parts etc) are dispatched via Parcelforce 48 hr service.
  • If the size of an individual order or the mileage involved warrant it, we may opt to use our dedicated, local courier.
  • Deliveries falling outside the range of our usual 2-man service, i.e. to remote areas of the UK mainland and offshore islands, may require special arrangements. If you receive the message “Please contact us to discuss delivery methods/costs” when prompted to enter your postcode during the online buying process, please give us a call. This message doesn’t mean that we can’t deliver to your chosen address, just that we can’t automate the process of costing the delivery.

In all cases we endeavour to get the goods to you in the safest, most cost-effective and convenient way possible.

What is the expected lifespan of Heavy-duty Man-made Timber?

In short, it’s pretty much indefinite! Unlike timber, the material does not warp, rot, shrink or split. It is also highly resistant to damage, both accidental and intentional.

Our first Heavy-duty Man-made Timber noticeboard was produced in 2001. Whilst we have no precise records of the exact locations at which they were installed, a quick trawl of our archives and some educated guesses as to where they might have been sited certainly turns up several examples dating from 2001-2, so 17 years and still going strong is clearly well within the realms of possibility – and all with negligible maintenance.

What is Heavy-duty Man-made Timber?

Heavy-duty Man-made Timber is an extruded, recycled plastic material with the appearance of timber. It is black in colour with a textured surface reminiscent of wood. The material is coloured throughout, meaning that minor chips and scratches do not show up.  If you are interested in buying a Heavy-duty Man-made Timber noticeboard but are unsure what it looks like, we are happy to provide material samples. Alternatively, to see examples of boards in your area, please consult our recent projects map and look for the lighter yellow markers.

Which display panel option should I choose?

For details of each option and its benefits simply choose that option from the dropdown and hover over the ? symbol that appears next to its price.

What is the lifespan of digital print?

Digital print has a minimum expected lifespan of 5 years. This doesn’t mean that it will be life-expired after 5 years but that we would not expect to see any noticeable deterioration in colour within a five year period. When used in a g.r.p. encapsulated panel it creates UV fade-resistant panel capable of withstanding external conditions for more than 10 years.

Can I make minor changes to contact details, service times etc on a sign panel?

Sign panels (as opposed to digital print and encapsulated panels) have lettering applied in computer-cut vinyl. Whilst this is designed to be weather-proof and permanent, there is a technique for removing it, if you know how! This means that making minor amendments, such as a change of contact number or service times is easily accomplished. We can supply new lettering to match the original for you to apply on site without the need for the board to be returned to us.

What artwork do I need to provide for logos or graphic panels?

For detailed information on acceptable file formats for logos and guidance on generating suitable artwork for graphic panels, maps etc., please click here for our separate guide on the subject.

What about installation?

Installation is designed to be as straightforward as possible and should be well within the capabilities of anyone competent at DIY. All our Apogee Heavy-duty Man-made Timber boards are supplied with instructions and necessary fixings. We recommend that posts for post-mounted boards are concreted into the ground to a minimum depth of 600mm.

The majority of our customers either undertake installation themselves or arrange for it to be carried out by a local contractor as this generally proves to be the most cost-effective method.  We are however able to offer an installation service covering much of the UK if required. If this is of interest, please call us on 01280 701093 for details.

What maintenance is needed?

Virtually none!  That is the joy of our Apogee boards.

Other than a quick clean occasionally with water and detergent, there is nothing to do!

5-year Guarantee:

Each Greenbarnes Apogee Heavy-duty Man-made Timber noticeboard comes with a 5-year guarantee on the quality of workmanship and materials used. We guarantee to the original purchaser that our Apogee boards are free from defects in material and workmanship. “Defect” is defined as any imperfection which impairs the normal use of the board. This guarantee is expressly limited to the labour and material costs of repair within 5 years of the date of despatch and excludes the following:

1] Defects caused by the improper assembly, installation or disassembly.

2] Defects occurring after purchase as a result of lack of maintenance as prescribed in the relevant maintenance instructions, unauthorised product modification, intentional damage, misuse, abuse or negligence.

3] Cosmetic damage.

4] Labour costs incurred in returning the board to us.
