The AF58 range of aluminium noticeboards, like our related AF30 range offers users the optimum balance of economy and practicality but uses a deeper 58mm profile to make larger single-bay boards possible.
These are extremely practical boards, well suited to a wide range of everyday applications and offering a broader range of options, such as headers, than is available in the AF30 range, thus extending the possibilities further.
Standard specification includes:

- Galvanised steel back panel with white lacquered finish for use with magnets
- 4mm, vandal-resistant, Plexichoc glazing
- Side-hinged doors which can be reversed for left or right-hand opening on portrait models and top-hinged doors on gas-stays on 18 & 21 x A4 landscape versions
- Waterproof elastomer seal
- Tamper-proof locks supplied with 2 keys per board
AF58 noticeboards feature a robust 58mm deep aluminium frame, steel back panel and tough Plexichoc glazing. Portrait boards feature side-hinged and lockable doors which can be reversed to hinge left or right. Landscape boards are fitted with top-hinged doors, rising and supported on gas stays.
Available in single-bay versions only in a variety of sizes and finishes all boards are equipped with an elastomer weatherseal to render them waterproof. Separate LED lighting kits are available for all boards where illumination is a requirement.

Orders may be placed directly online by completing details of the required specification, by phone on 01280 701093, by email to sales@greenbarnes.co.uk. If you need us to quote your order number in correspondence or on the invoice, please be sure to include this when ordering. All orders will be acknowledged on receipt by email or (where no email address is supplied) in writing and will include an estimated date for completion.
Lead time
Silver anodised AF58 noticeboards with Plexichoc glazing are usually available ex-stock. Powder-coated boards and boards with toughened glass are manufactured to order. Lead time for production and delivery of made-to-order noticeboards is usually 4-6 weeks but may vary according to workload. If your order is urgent or has a specific deadline, please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will do our utmost to accommodate you.

Local Authorities, churches, schools and registered charities: 30 days from date of invoice.
All other non-account customers: Payment in full is required with order.

Delivery
Our preferred method of delivery will vary depending upon a number of factors including the weights of individual items in the consignment and the delivery address.
The majority of orders are now delivered by couriers using a specialist 2-man delivery team, as experience has shown this to be the safest and most reliable method. Although slightly more expensive than conventional alternatives, this guarantees that our boards, which can be heavy and difficult to handle, are treated with the necessary care at each step of their journey thus minimising the chances of loss or damage.
As soon as your order is completed, we will contact you to let you know that it is being collected by our courier and, shortly thereafter, they will contact you directly to make final arrangements for the delivery. This also has the advantage that you can normally fine-tune delivery details and thus avoid waiting in for prolonged periods.
All consignments will need to be checked and signed for upon receipt. In the unlikely event any item being damaged or missing, this should be recorded on the delivery note when signing for the goods and reported to us, preferably immediately and at the very latest, within 24 hours of delivery. We regret that we are unable to entertain any claims for damage or shortages that are notified to us outside this timescale.
Different arrangements may apply for small parcels, local deliveries or deliveries to remote areas and offshore islands, as follows:
- Where possible, small parcels (spare parts etc) are dispatched via Parcelforce 48 hr service.
- If the size of an individual order or the mileage involved warrant it, we may opt to use our dedicated, local courier.
- Deliveries falling outside the range of our usual 2-man service, i.e. to remote areas of the UK mainland and offshore islands, may require special arrangements. If you receive the message “Please contact us to discuss delivery methods/costs” when prompted to enter your postcode during the online buying process, please give us a call. This message doesn’t mean that we can’t deliver to your chosen address, just that we can’t automate the process of costing the delivery.
In all cases we endeavour to get the goods to you in the safest, most cost-effective and convenient way possible.
What is the expected lifespan of an aluminium noticeboard?
All our aluminium noticeboards are designed to give many years of troublefree service whilst requiring minimal care. Like any other product however, a little preventative maintenance such as regular lubrication of hinges and locks can help prolong the board’s useful life.

What is Plexichoc glazing?
Plexichoc ® is a transparent, UV-blocking glazing material with good shock resistance and meets ISO 179-1
Toughened glass v. Plexichoc – which is better?
It depends upon the circumstances of the individual installation. Toughened glass is heat-treated and typically has a strength 4 – 6 times that of the equivalent ordinary float glass. When it breaks, it tends to shatter into small pebbles that are relatively innocuous (like an old fashioned car windscreen). Plexichoc is a tough, transparent, UV-blocking, plastic material, with good shock resistance. It will cope with far greater impacts than will toughened glass but, being a plastic material, has a softer surface and is therefore more susceptible to being scratched.
Which way do the doors hinge?
Portrait format boards have side-hinged doors which can easily be reversed for left or right-hand opening. Boards are supplied hinged on the left, locking on the right by default.
Landscape boards have top-hinged doors which rise, and are supported when open, on gas stays.
What is the lifespan of digital print?
Digital print has a minimum expected lifespan of 5 years. This doesn’t mean that it will be life-expired after 5 years but that we would not expect to see any noticeable deterioration in colour within a five year period. When used in a g.r.p. encapsulated panel it creates UV fade-resistant panel capable of withstanding external conditions for more than 10 years.
Can I make minor changes to contact details, service times etc on a sign panel?
Sign panels (as opposed to digital print and encapsulated panels) have lettering applied in computer-cut vinyl. Whilst this is designed to be weather-proof and permanent, there is a technique for removing it, if you know how! This means that making minor amendments, such as a change of contact number or service times is easily accomplished. We can supply new lettering to match the original for you to apply on site without the need for the board to be returned to us.
What artwork do I need to provide for logos or graphic panels?

Are all doors lockable?
Yes, all doors are lockable and each AF30 or AF58 board is supplied with 2 keys. Each A-Multi board is supplied with 2 keys per glazed bay.
What about lighting?
LED lighting kits are available for all AF30 and AF58 noticeboards. LED kits comprise 1 or 2 LED ribbons (one for the top and one for the bottom depending on the size of the board) with a transformer to be installed outside the noticeboard.
LED kits are not factory fitted and require installation by a qualified electrician to comply with applicable safety regulations.
What about installation?
Installation is designed to be as straightforward as possible and should be well within the capabilities of anyone competent at DIY. All aluminium boards are supplied with instructions and post-mounted versions come with the necessary fixings. We recommend that posts for post-mounted boards are concreted into the ground to a minimum depth of 600mm.
The majority of our customers either undertake installation themselves or arrange for it to be carried out by a local contractor as this generally proves to be the most cost-effective method. Can I get spare keys?
Yes, they are available from stock and can usually be posted out to you the same day.
5-year Guarantee:
Each AF58 aluminium noticeboard comes with a 5-year guarantee on the quality of workmanship and materials used. We guarantee to the original purchaser that boards are free from defects in material and workmanship. “Defect” is defined as any imperfection which impairs the normal use of the board. This guarantee is expressly limited to the labour and material costs of repair within 5 years of the date of despatch and excludes the following:
1] Defects caused by the improper assembly, installation or disassembly.
2] Defects occurring after purchase as a result of lack of maintenance as prescribed in the relevant maintenance instructions, unauthorised product modification, intentional damage, misuse, abuse or negligence.
3] Cosmetic damage.
4] Labour costs incurred in returning the board to us.
